Michael A. Carroll StadiumAddress: 1001 W. New York St., 46202
IUPUI returned to the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium in the Fall 2012 after completing the installation of a new FieldTurf Revolution soccer field, covering the 110 x 75 yard pitch. The facility boasts stadium seating for 10,000 patrons and includes a press box on the south side, which can accommodate 72 working media members. Originally built in 1982, the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium cost $7 million to construct. Since then, a new drainage system, track surface and soccer field were later installed in 1997. The revitalized facility made its debut at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Later, the infield was reconstructed to accommodate field sports such as soccer, rugby, and lacrosse. In 1998, a new state-of-the-art timing, scoring and scoreboard display system was installed, including digital photo-finish timing equipment. The oval, 400-meter, eight-lane track is made up of a Mondo running surface and 48-inch lanes. During the summers, the facility is also used for IU Indy Sport Complex Summer Camps, as well as competitions and an assortment of walks/runs. The facility also serves as the home facility for the Indy Eleven since 2014. |
